I first took an interest in web development sometime around 1998, when I put my first homepage up as a student at Rochester Institute of Technology. After graduating in 2000 with a degree in Information Technology, I began a career in the web, from which I’ve never looked back.
Currently I work at University of Rochester Medical Center as a Lead Web Developer. My employers and affiliations have included: Xerox Corporation, Advanced Hi-Tech, Element K, and Cazbah.
Intranet Web Development
As a co-op at the Xerox Corporation, I began a development plan for a realignment of the Wilson Center (now Xerox Research Center Webster) intranet. This plan was never implemented.
In my current position, as Lead Web Developer with the Information Systems Division at the University of Rochester Medical Center, I am serving as front-end specialist on multiple internal applications, as well as migrating the existing corporate intranet to a modern CMS. I am also helping to architect a plan for Intranet 2.0 modernization.
Internet Web Development
Over the years I have been responsible for, or contributed to, many dozens of websites and web applications. This is a sampling of a few of those sites that are available publicly, in reverse chronological order:
Yehoodi
I hold the “web user interface” position on a three-man development team for this ongoing project. I design and implement layout, graphics, stylesheets, and markup for this community site, which is custom-built on PHP-driven MVC framework.
Groove Juice Swing
As a founding member of Groove Juice Swing, a group that teaches Lindy Hop and organizes swing dance events in Rochester, I am responsible for the online presence. My friend Mike Thibault (also a founding member) built this dynamic site on Umbraco.
URMC
I was responsible for the implementation of the University of Rochester Medical Center’s public web site platform from 2007 until 2010. This included a custom built ColdFusion back end, stylesheet frameworks, and HTML templates for developer use. The web team may be replacing the platform, and possibly the design, since my departure.
