Stompology 2007

Well, Stompology has come and gone once again. Overall it was a great weekend, and once again we've had good vibes from the students and teachers. We've also learned a few more things this time around, and I'm looking forward to next year's event being even bigger and better.

The venues this year were much better suited to the event, particularly the classes. Last year’s gym was too crowded and hot with little ventilation. This year, the airflow was much better managed (and quiet!) and the room was slightly larger, giving students more room. Plus there was a stage that the teachers utilized when they could for better visibility.

Adding a fourth teacher worked really well in my opinion. It allowed for a better distribution of material and the students came away with some really well-rounded stuff.

Things flowed a lot more smoothly this year, but there are always unexpected twists. Fortunately the team’s communication lines were open a lot more this time around and we had fewer snags.

For next year, I’d like us to work additional classes in to give students more options. The tricky part is coordinating the teachers so as not to overwork them, and it will be difficult to distribute classes throughout the venue as the additional rooms are much smaller.
