Alright, I'll give the whole story: Tuesday night I returned from Ryan's after dropping off some boxes. I drove home, parked on the street in the same spot I've been parking for years, put the Club on the wheel, and went home.
Just after 3 in the morning we awoke to the sound of the NYS Troopers pounding on our door and asking for Alexander. Sarah’s first answer through the door (since I was putting pants on) was, “Did his car window get broken again?” and their reply was, “No ma’am, it was stolen.”
I guess the thief was dumb enough to speed on route 490 in the middle of the night, because these particular Troopers pulled him over (with no report by me that the car had been stolen, since I was sleeping at the time). He got out and ran, and apparently got away to steal more cars at a later date. Right on.
So right now my car is in the city impound lot. I have ten days to get it out; presumeably after that it becomes a metallic boullion cube. I have been in contact with my insurance company to asses the damage done to the steering column and front end (thankfully it hadn’t been wrapped around a tree), and in the meantime I have a girlfriend to give me rides. At some point in the next few days I’ll have to rent a car, which is no big deal since the insurance will definitely cover that whether the damage is covered or not.
It’s more annoying than anything else, and just more proof that we need to get out of our neighborhood. May 31 is our last day there, come hell or high water.
Don’t you have a fiancee to give you rides too? Man, you’re hooked up.
Yes, I suppose I do.
where do you think you might be moving to? (...because I want to steal your car, it sounds like fun)
The one apartment we really want is in the Park Ave neighborhood (about 1000x nicer)
And don’t even think about it!
Sorry about your car. I once had my U-Haul broken in to while moving. Even worse, a buddy of mine had his U-Haul stolen. And guess what was attached to it, his car in tow. That’s right, they stole all of this stuff, his car, and a U-Haul.
