So, you may or may not have heard about Stompology. Here's the deal: Rochester will be host to the first workshop for Lindy Hoppers and swing dancers specifically focusing on solo Authentic Jazz dance movement.
We’re bringing in three instructors who are awesome at this type of thing: Andy, Jojo and Naomi. And I’m not only excited to have them here because they’re friends of mine, but because I’m really looking forward to the material they will be teaching.
The Rochester dance scene, IMO, has always been lacking a bit in the improvisation department. One of the reasons for that is the dancers may not feel comfortable with doing movement that doesn’t specifically require a partner. Hopefully getting their eyes opened a little more to this type of thing will spark some styling.
If you’re a Rochesterian considering attending, or if you’re thinking of coming from out of town, please register or contact us with questions. So far the response buzz-wise has been good, but we don’t really have any registrations to show for it. Since we’re newbies at organizing this type of thing, we need a fairly good early registration revenue to avoid putting the brakes on.
