Announcing Violet Jane Burr, born April 29, 2010, at 11:20PM. She weighed 6 pounds 12 ounces, and measured 18.5 inches long.
Those readers that know me and Sarah personally have been aware of our pending “family situation” for the past nine months. Well the waiting is over… my daughter has finally joined us! Things didn’t go quite as expected, but then, when do they ever?
The baby wasn’t actually due until this coming Friday. Sarah attended her last doctor’s appointment with complaints about stomach pains the previous 24 hours. The doctor did a quick exam and admitted her to Highland Hospital.
After a brief stay in triage, we began to understand that the baby (we were still unaware of the sex at this point) was coming before we went home. I’ll avoid all the gory details, but several hours later, while in the labor ward, we were informed that the baby would be delivered the Roman way. Despite an emotional and worrisome delivery, the baby girl turned out to be beautiful and healthy!
Four days later and we’ve finally made it home! Mother is recovering slowly but surely and Baby is doing the usual routine of sleeping, eating, changing, etc. We’re losing some good sleep, as all new parents do, but Sarah’s on leave and I’ve taken two weeks vacation to ease the stress.
On to new adventures!
